The Ark Community Church first met Pastor Paul Kinataama in 2001 when he visited England to raise awareness of the appalling living conditions experienced on the outskirts of the capital city, Kampala.
A quietly spoken man, with a powerful testimony of survival under Idi Amin’s brutal regime, Pastor Paul talked of the slum area called Katwe and the desperate need of this community for food, clean water, health care, education, and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In support of his work as Vice President of the Full Gospel Churches of Uganda, The Ark began to send teams to work amongst the women and children in these city slums and also in rural areas. The teams have been used to teach on sexual health, family traditions and bringing up children, in several local churches which are overseen by Pastor Paul.
Pastors Bruce and Sharon Oliver travelled to a rural community deep in western Uganda and conducted an evangelistic event in a field. They saw hundreds of people responding to the gospel as local villagers experienced God’s power in their lives, with many being healed.
Mission teams from the Ark have also led children’s camps and women’s meetings receiving enthusiastic requests for repeat visits.
A number of Ark members have sponsored the education of Ugandan children living in the Katwe slum.
