Church services at The Ark are informal and do not follow a defined structure. On Sunday mornings there will normally be a time of praise and worship led by the worship team.

The worship includes lively, upbeat praise declaring God’s greatness and power, and quieter times of worship and contemplative prayer, focusing on God’s love and forgiveness. During praise and worship members of the congregation are free to stand, sit or kneel to reflect their personal expression of thanksgiving and reverence for God’s goodness, faithfulness, love and holiness.

During the service it is normal for there to be spontaneous prayer and the use of the gifts of the Holy Spirit including prophecy, speaking in tongues and interpretation. Typically, the leader will give a simple explanation of what is happening at such times.

There will also be a reading from the Bible and a prayer time led by a member of the church for the needs of the nation, those in authority, and for specific matters of importance to the church or individuals.

Tithes and offerings are received during the service. Prayer request cards may also be placed in the offering. These requests are passed on to intercession groups which meet during the week.

Many people have genuine questions about such subjects as knowing God personally, heaven and hell, suffering and the relevance of other religions etc. It is through the preaching and teaching from the Bible that we endeavour to answer such questions and encourage, instruct and inspire the congregation to follow a Christian lifestyle.

In most services prayer ministry is offered for any individual who has a need. It may be for physical or emotional healing, a personal matter, a family problem or a particularly difficult circumstance. Individuals are usually encouraged to come to the front of the meeting to be prayed for, and in some cases they are anointed with oil and have hands laid on them for healing.

Usually the service will be formally closed in prayer at this time. The service is followed by tea and coffee, when there is opportunity for visitors to meet the leaders and members of the congregation.
